INKEN DRESSLER
In her role at the OA Alliance, Inken Dressler advises on topics related to the incorporation of ocean acidification information and responses into European legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks. Her work is currently focused on climate and ocean-related EU Directives. Inken co-facilitates the quarterly OA Alliance EU Stakeholder working group meetings, which bring together regional stakeholders to allow for interdisciplinary discussions and advance legal and policy guidance.
Inken represents the OA Alliance at meetings of the European Expert Group on the Strategic Coordination for the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and its working groups, and is in regular contact with representatives of the EU Commission and regional seas conventions. She also supports the OA Alliance Leadership programme and is co-authoring papers about the climate-ocean-food security nexus.
Inken has a background in law, policy, and biology. She completed the joint Nordic Master Programme in Environmental Law in 2023, where she was awarded a joint degree: Master of Legal Science from Uppsala University, Master of International and Comparative Law from University of Eastern Finland, and Master of Laws from the Arctic University of Norway (UiT). Inken also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Maastricht University, where she minored in Psychology and in Business and Law. She is currently in her final year of her second bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Hamburg
