OA Week 2025: Beyond Dissolving Shells: Innovative and Collaborative Ways To Improve OA Education

OA Alliance’s Executive Director, Jessie Turner, will be joining a creative panel moderated by Liz Perotti, NOAA Ocean Acidification Program, focused on how the ocean acidification community can better communicate and bring OA to a wider audience. Showcasing a set of projects already taking place such as:

  • Making Ocean Acidification Relevant and Engaging for School Audiences, Amy Kenworthy, Probleu

  • Game-based learning for ocean acidification: an open-source example using 'Ocean Protector', Alex Zimmerman, Indiana University

  • Beyond knowledge transfer - sensory experience and emotional connection as gateways to action to address ocean acidification, Sam Dupont, University of Gothenburg & Ocean Acidification International Coordination Center

Jessie will spotlight the OA Alliance’s Creative Communications program, making the unseen impacts of climate-ocean change seen and emotionally felt. She will also present Carbon in the Current, a first of its kind, 3D digital artistic animation that channels art and science to tell the ocean’s story in new and powerful ways.
