Ocean acidification: a threat to marine ecosystems and economies in the Commonwealth and beyond

Join us on 14 November for an event in London hosted by the Economist Impact Group Back to Blue Initiative. The event will launch “Ocean Acidification, A Time for Action: The role of action plans in tackling a mounting ocean crisisa policy report calling on National Governments to rise to the challenge of developing National OA Action Plans. 

Ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference COP28, experts and government officials will discuss the ongoing threat of ocean acidification, and its damaging impacts on marine and coastal ecosystems, blue food systems and sustainable blue economies.

The event will convene senior UK government representatives, policymakers around the world, high commissioners within the Commonwealth and scientists to discuss solutions to the growing crisis of ocean acidification in two panels.

Panel 1: Ocean acidification action plans and policy framework: a global overview.

Panel 2: Fostering local actions to tackle ocean acidification in the UK, the Commonwealth and beyond.

This event will take place in person at Marlborough House, the Commonwealth headquarters in London, and also broadcast live on YouTube.
